What Is HYROX?
HYROX is the world's largest mass-participation fitness race. It combines 8 km of running with 8 functional workout stations, including sled pushes, rowing, wall balls, and farmer's carries.
Founded in Hamburg, Germany in 2017, HYROX has exploded globally. It's now in 30+ countries with over 100,000 participants annually. Think of it as the triathlon of functional fitness, standardized, competitive, and accessible to all fitness levels.
The Race Format
Every HYROX race follows the same format:
- 1 km Run → Ski Erg (1000m)
- 1 km Run → Sled Push (50m)
- 1 km Run → Sled Pull (50m)
- 1 km Run → Burpee Broad Jumps (80m)
- 1 km Run → Rowing (1000m)
- 1 km Run → Farmer's Carry (200m)
- 1 km Run → Sandbag Lunges (100m)
- 1 km Run → Wall Balls (100 reps)
The standardized format means you can compare your time against anyone in the world, at any event. That's what makes it so addictive.
How We Prepare You
As an official HYROX training facility, SVRN Core's Conditioning Zone is built specifically for race-day simulation. Our HYROX Prep program includes:
- Weekly race simulations at various intensities
- Station-specific technique work so you're efficient on race day
- Pacing strategy. The biggest mistake first-timers make is going out too fast
- Running endurance blocks built into your weekly programming
- Transition training, practicing the switch between running and stations
- Mental preparation, because race day is as much mental as physical
Our coaches have competed in and coached for multiple HYROX events. They know what race day demands and how to prepare you for it.
Pacing Strategy for Your First Race
The number one mistake first-time HYROX athletes make is going out too fast on the first two runs. Here's how to pace intelligently:
- Runs 1-3: Easy conversational pace. You should feel like you're holding back.
- Runs 4-5: Moderate effort. Settle into your rhythm.
- Runs 6-7: Start pushing slightly. You've done the hardest stations.
- Run 8: Leave everything on the floor.
For stations, the key is steady effort. Don't sprint the sled push and then collapse. Find a sustainable pace and stick to it. Consistency beats intensity in HYROX.
Who Should Do HYROX?
Anyone. Seriously. HYROX has divisions for all fitness levels, from singles to doubles to relay teams. If you can run a kilometer and do basic functional movements, you can train for HYROX.
Most people need 8 to 12 weeks of focused preparation. Our program runs year-round, so you can jump in at any point and start building toward your first race.
"Race day is just a test of what you've already built in training." Coach Team, SVRN Core
